4 Tips To Set Your Intentions Now and Rock This New Year
A New Year is such a powerful time.
There is nothing like the feeling of a blank canvas to create whatever you like. It's a time full of hope for a lot of people to set goals and become more of the person they want to be.
This blog post is not about making "resolutions", it's much bigger than that. This is about setting your intentions and creating a vision around what you want your year to look like and how you want it to feel.
What is an intention?
TheFreeDictionary.com defines intention as a course of action that one intends to follow, an aim that guides action, an objective.
Setting your Intentions allows you to set priorities, use your time wisely, and align yourself with the resources you need to manifest your goals. The process of setting and working towards your intentions declares to yourself, others, and the universe that you are serious about your dreams and goals.
1. Pick a WORD OF THE YEAR
I was introduced to the "Word of the Year" concept a couple of years ago and have found it a very simple and powerful way to create a yearly focus/ intention.
How to do it?
Think about how you want 2018 to look and feel for you. What words come to mind? One specific word may jump right out to you. If not, write down a few words and sit with them over the coming days and then let your gut pick which one feels most right.
I'll be honest, maybe it's the Gemini in me, but the past couple years I started with one word and quickly added a complimentary word....but the point is, these 2 words gave me focus the whole year long....so go with what feels right.

2. Visualize what you want to CREATE
Have you ever heard the saying "Seeing is believing"? Well that is essentially the point of Visualization. It's a way to gain clarity on what you want and secondly it's extremely helpful in growing your belief in yourself and conviction in achieving your goals. This is also goes hand in hand with your next step...The Vision Board.
I suggest you take some time before the New Year to spend some time getting quiet and visualizing what you want to create in 2018. This can be done by sitting in meditation or if you need more of a prompt to get your imagination flowing you can try a guided meditation. I will link you to one I found especially helpful in this process here. I would also suggest keeping a pen and paper handy to write down any of the things that come up. Visualization is a tool I use to keep focused on my goals and keep my energy high. It may feel uncomfortable or lame at first but like all good things, give it a try and open yourself up to the possibilities.
3. Make a VISION BOARD

Now that you have picked a Word of the Year and done some Visualization, it's time to create your visual road map to what you want to create.
All you need is your imagination, a board, some magazines, markers, glue, etc...Add pictures, key words, your word of the year and quotes, that represent what you want the year to be like for you.
Creating a visual reminder of your deepest dreams and ambitions can help not only to identify what matters to you but focus your attention on achieving it, thus making it more likely to happen.
This is meant to be fun, so take the seriousness out of it and lose yourself in the joy and creation of it all.
4. Wear something as a daily reminder of your INTENTION
Lastly, If you have done all this work so far, you are off to an amazing start for the New Year. What would be the cherry on top? Wearing something beautiful that serves as a daily reminder of your Intentions.
